May Chapter Meeting

Write Action Like a Playwright
Thursday, May 9
7:00 p.m. (Online)
Join Sisters in Crime Chicagoland for a fascinating look at applying stage techniques to enhance your writing.

Strategically choreographed and compelling action beats are essential to any mystery, suspense, or thriller. In this advanced craft workshop, Ginny Myers Sain draws on 20+ years of experience as a director and acting coach to share how theatre professionals use physical action on stage to heighten tension, underscore important moments, deepen characterization, reveal relationships, and ground scenes in reality.

Ginny Myers Sain is the author of four novels published by Penguin Teen. Her debut novel, DARK AND SHALLOW LIES, is a New York Times bestseller, an Indie Bookstore Bestseller, a Barnes & Noble YA Pick of the Month, an Amazon Editor's Pick, and a CRYSTAL KITE award winner from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Advanced Craft sessions was one of the highest priorities requested in the Chicagoland member survey last year. We aim to provide programming on the topics of greatest interest to our members. If you have an idea for a chapter meeting or our Fall Workshop, email programming@sincchicago.com . As always this meeting will be recorded and uploaded to the SINCC members-only section of the website.

What’s In your wallet?

Speaking metaphorically, of course. We’re actually asking about connections, ideas, suggestions or resources in your arsenal that could be shared with your SINCC siblings. The Programming committee is always interested in hearing from our members! If you have an idea for a chapter meeting topic, a business or professional contact with valuable insights to share, let us know! Email us with “Programming Committee” in the subject line.
