About Us

Our mission is to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers.

Sisters in Crime is made up of writers, readers, publishing professionals, booksellers, and librarians, and promotes women writers of crime fiction through opportunities to network, socialize, and learn. Sisters in Crime was founded by Chicagoland member Sara Paretsky and a group of women writers at the 1986 Bouchercon Convention in Baltimore. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in mystery and suspense. We welcome readers, writers, and everyone in between.

Our purpose is to further promote the interests of Sisters in Crime, our members to the community, and to allow our members to network with each other, learn about the craft and business of writing, and to promote their own writing. We meet monthly for instruction, information, and camaraderie. Join us on Facebook, Instagram, at our monthly meetings, and special events.
